I love using matcha in every recipe I try - I think it gives another level of depth in flavor, especially in sweets. It really brings out a subtle toasted earthy taste, in addition to having the most beautiful (and natural) green color.

These matcha cookies use browned butter so these really have a complex flavor profile but they're easy to make yet sure to impress!

What you'll need for this recipe:

  • 1 cups all purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp matcha powder

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 eggs room temperature

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Brown butter in pan until light golden brown. Let cool.

  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt; then set aside.

  3. Mix sugar, brown sugar, browned butter, eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk until light and fluffy (1 min)

  4. Add flour mixture and using a spatula, combine until dough forms.

  5. Add white chocolate chips.

  6. Allow dough to chill in fridge for at least 1 hour (i did the entire night)

  7. Roll out about 1 tablespoon of dough into balls (use smaller balls for the eyes on top)

  8. Bake for 10 mins at 350 F.

  9. Cool and then use chocolate to decorate!
